I saw Fun. in concert yesterday. People keep asking me how it was and I keep saying “reverential,” and they keep being like, “whoa, calm your tits.” But actually.

Ricky went into it and tried to predict the whole setlist. We had a tentative idea of things that went something along the lines of:

  • Some Nights Intro
  • Some Nights
  • All the Pretty Girls
  • Less Important Songs
  • Barlights
  • Less Important Songs
  • Walking the Dog
  • We Are Young

But it wasn’t even close to that, which made me really happy actually. For someone who has had some moderate difficulty readjusting back to living in the States and being back at school for real, it felt really—monumental? appropriate? emotional? that they opened with “One Foot" (as in, "one foot in front of the other") and closed with "Take Your Time (Coming Home)”.

In concert, “Some Nights" is an experience in and of itself: beautiful, deafening, heartfelt, and just—perfect. I can say with certainty that it’s my favorite song to have come out so far this year. If you’ve never just sat in one place and listened to "Some Nights," you’re missing out. I listened to the Some Nights album for the first time when I was in Scotland. I think I still like Aim & Ignite better as a whole album, but I remember Some Nights opening with the "Some Nights Intro"/"Some Nights" and being like, "holy shit," on this bus ride through the Highlands, so. I don’t know. It just made me feel good to be at this concert—drinking long islands and screaming and singing at the top of my lungs, just, like, really fucking happy.
